Thailand’s ZIGMA Crowned ROG Masters Asia Pacific Champions 2021!

Thailand’s ZIGMA Counter-Strike team have been crowned the Champions of the ROG Masters 2021, the company’s first online Asia Pacific eSports tournament.

ZIGMA won the championship after defeating another tournament favourite, Singapore’s Huat Zai in the semifinals and then the Philippines’ Expendables in a gruelling final match that lasted over two hours.

The Road to Becoming Champions

Regional Qualifiers: ZIGMA qualified for the ROG Masters Asia Pacific finals by first beating 34 other Thai teams to win the Thai country qualifiers on 27 March 2021.

APAC Championship Round of 32 & 16: ZIGMA then defeated Korean Regional Champions Four Seasons Gaming 2 matches to 0, then Indonesian first runner up team Fortez in the Round of 16 matches of the APAC Championships.

APAC Championship Semifinal: In the last group of four countries, ZIGMA defeated another tournament favourite to win, Singapore’s Huat Zai 2 matches to 0.

APAC Championship Grand Final: On the evening of 25 April 2021, ZIGMA defeated the Philippine’s Expendables in the grand final that turned out to be one of the most competitive and exciting matches of the tournament which lasted over two hours.

In the first round, ZIGMA won 16 to 10 in the map: Overpass, but in the second round, Expendables fought back hard after being down 14:9 at one point to win 14:16 in Mirage. ZIGMA then secured its victory with a 16:9 score in the final round in Inferno.

In total, ZIGMA played nine rounds over the course of the tournament and won all except the single loss of the second round to the Expendables in the final match.

ZIGMA is one of Thailand’s top-ranked Counter-Strike teams. The roster that won the ROG Masters Asia Pacific 2021 was a relatively young team consisting of Reality, 23 (team captain), RoLEX, 20, Geniuss, 22; Niffy, 19; JUSTCAUSE, 25; 1Ackerman, 20; and CigaretteS_, 25. CigaretteS_ in particular is the player with the highest kill to death ratio (KDR 1 ) of 1.81 in the tournament.
