[REVIEW] Roborock Q Revo – The Disruptor Premium Smart Robot Vacuum

When I’m asked for smart robot vacuum recommendations by family or friends, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra earns a top spot in my list, but it comes with a hefty price tag.

The Roborock Q Revo is the disruptor smart robot vacuum in the premium segment.

Roborock Q Revo

The Roborock Q Revo is a fully autonomous all-in-one vacuum and mop combo. It also comes with a maintenance-free dock station that allows it to perform self-emptying, self-refilling, mop washing, and even features mop heat drying – a feature not found in even the top-tier Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.

Offering similar functions to other flagship smart robot vacuums but at a significantly lower price of RM 3,799, the question arises: Is it the best value for money smart robot vacuum?

Here’s my review of the Roborock Q Revo after having it for almost a month.

Design

I’ll begin with the robot vacuum, the Roborock Q Revo has a pretty sleek and minimalist design. The top flap holds the chamber for dust with a removable dust filter. You can even run water with the filter for depth cleansing but make sure it’s completely dry before reinstalling.

While at the bottom, there’s a single-side brush that can be removed for service or replacement. The bristleless rubber roller design prevents hair from being tangled and can also be detached for cleaning or replaced if found worn.

Roborock Q Revo is the company’s first-ever dual spinning mop system that effectively cleans floors at 200 rpm speed and automatically lifts to 7mm when carpet is detected. The mop pads are velcroed onto the magnetized mop holders and can be removed by just pulling them out.

Sensors are all around the robot vacuum to perform 3D mapping, obstacle avoidance, and fall detection.

Coming to the dock station, it is big and tall. There are two huge tanks, one for the clean water and a reservoir for the dirty water. The front flap can be opened, revealing the 2.7L dustbin bag. Basically, this dock station will manage the dust collection from the robot’s dust chamber, clear water refilling, separating dirty water, mop cleaning, and heat drying to prevent mildew and odors from building in the mop pads.

Many of the components in the robot vacuum are removable, and these consumables can be serviced or replaced as necessary. This ensures the robot vacuum’s longevity by enabling it to continue operating efficiently over the lifespan of this robot vacuum.

Setup & Apps

The Roborock Q Revo works not only with its Roborock app but also the Mi Home app which I did as I have other Xiaomi AIoT like Air Purifier, smart lights, and more to manage in one app.

Setting it up is very simple and all it needs is to connect to your home network. After that, the robot needs to perform a quick mapping by using the 3D LiDAR sensor which takes less than 2 minutes for a small 500 sqft living room plus kitchen. It also features multi-level mapping, meaning you can use this robot vacuum on different floors in your house and it can intelligently recognize its location and automatically switch between maps.

The app also allows you to set No-Go-Zone, Invisible Walls, and No Mop Zone in case you have areas that you don’t want to access or get damped.

It also can be integrated into your Home Assistant like Google Home or Alexa and controls the Roborock Q Revo via app or voice command.

From the app, we can see where and cleaning progress while it is cleaning as well as checking the status of the consumables.

How Clean It Can Get?

The Roborock Q Revo works well on almost all types of flooring including tiles, hardwood, and carpet. With Up to 5,500Pa and a bristleless brush, it can pick up hairs and speckles of dust, without fail.

Mopping capability has improved a lot thanks to the new dual-spinning mop that actually scrubs the floor more efficiently compared to other mop systems that literally drag across the floor. I do notice that the onboard water tank inside the vacuum is non-removable and it has a small 80ml capacity, hence it would need to refill clean water every 400 to 500 sqft of cleaning with high water flow settings.

When it comes to mopping, we have the flexibility to adjust the mop washing frequency. If you desire a thorough floor cleaning with a higher amount of clean water, you can increase the frequency accordingly. Instead of moving back and forth to clean the mops like the S7 MaxV Ultra, the Roborock Q Revo’s mop cleaning can be done while charging. It also has hot air drying that is efficient and prevents mildew and odors from building up in the mop pads.

To my surprise, the noise level is pretty good even in max power suction. Overall the cleaning is good except for tight corners that are not accessible by the mop.

Maintenance

Aside from replacing the dust bag, refilling the clean water, and taking out the dirty water, there are other maintenance like filters, brushes, and sensor cleaning. I need to praise the engineer in designing the dock station, the mop scrub’s tray inside the dock station can be detached, making cleaning much easier.

Runtime

The 5,200 mAh battery can last about 180 minutes which is enough to clean about 1,000 square feet with just a single charge. If you have a bigger coverage, the Roborock Q Revo will automatically return to its dock and resume its tasks once it’s charged.

Verdict

Roborock Q Revo offered nothing less than other flagship smart robot vacuums at a midrange price.

With its dock station equipped with water tanks and featuring hot air drying of the mop pads, this smart robot vacuum can autonomously and effectively clean floors while reducing the need for frequent human intervention.
