Samsung Unveils Galaxy SmartTag2 – A Game Changer for Keeping Valuables Safe

Samsung Electronics has just dropped a game-changing announcement: the Galaxy SmartTag2 is set to hit the global market on 11th October. This latest addition to the Galaxy SmartTag lineup promises an array of enhancements, revolutionizing the way we safeguard our prized possessions.

The Galaxy SmartTag2 introduces the all-new Lost Mode 2, allowing users to input their contact information via a message. This means that if someone stumbles upon an item adorned with a Galaxy SmartTag2, they can easily scan the tag with their smartphone and access the owner’s message and contact details. This feature proves invaluable, especially when you’ve attached a Galaxy SmartTag2 to your pet’s collar, ensuring that your phone number is readily available in case your furry friend decides to embark on an adventure. Lost Mode works seamlessly with any mobile device equipped with an NFC reader and web browser.

Enhancing the user experience, the Galaxy SmartTag2 now boasts an improved Compass View feature, displaying arrows to guide users toward the direction and distance of the Galaxy SmartTag2 relative to their position. This feature is available on any UWB-supported Galaxy smartphone, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The SmartThings Find app has also undergone a significant upgrade. Newly registered Galaxy SmartTags will now install a shortcut to the app on the user’s smartphone, enabling quick access to SmartThings Find. Moreover, the app now offers a full-screen map view and a user-friendly interface, making the experience even smoother. When switching between Galaxy smartphones, the SmartTag2 now seamlessly re-syncs with your device using your Samsung account.

With the introduction of Power Saving Mode, users can now enjoy the Galaxy SmartTag2 for extended periods. This mode is perfect for those who rely on SmartTags to continuously track items while preserving battery life. In Power Saving Mode, the Galaxy SmartTag2’s battery can last up to an impressive 700 days, more than twice the duration of previous models. Even in Normal Mode, battery life is extended to 500 days, a 50% improvement compared to earlier models. This flexibility ensures that users can keep tabs on their valuables, from car keys to bicycles, for an extended period.

The Galaxy SmartTag2 boasts a new compact size and ring-shaped design, prioritizing ease of use. The robust metal loop enhances product durability and can support accessories such as clips and keyrings. These accessories can also be attached to bags and luggage. Additionally, the Galaxy SmartTag2 features a pet walking mode, simplifying the process of tracking your walks with your four-legged companions.

Building on the success of the Galaxy SmartTag and Galaxy SmartTag+, the Galaxy SmartTag2 leverages both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities. It utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology to guide users visually towards their item using their Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera. With a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters, Samsung places a premium on user privacy, ensuring that the device’s location is only accessible with the user’s consent. SmartThings Find encrypts user data and is fortified by Samsung Knox for added security. Lost Mode instantly conceals the owner’s contact information and erases the owner’s message from the device upon deactivation.

For Samsung Galaxy users, SmartThings Find introduces the “Unknown tag alerts” feature, providing security by notifying users of any unauthorized tracking. If an unknown SmartTag follows a user, SmartThings Find sends a notification, safeguarding users from unwanted tracking.

The Galaxy SmartTag2 seamlessly integrates with SmartThings Station, acting as a constant device scanner. This feature aids users in tracking items attached to SmartTags, from remotes and wallets to smartphones, tablets, watches, and earbuds. Pet owners also benefit from alerts when a tagged collar strays too far from the SmartThings Station, helping them keep their beloved pets close to home.

In summary, Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag2 is poised to redefine how we protect and monitor our cherished belongings. With a range of innovative features, improved battery life, and enhanced usability, it’s a must-have for anyone looking to keep their valuables secure. The Galaxy SmartTag2 becomes available worldwide on 11th October 2023.
