The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is the company’s top-tier Galaxy A-series and has greater specs bumped up over its predecessor the Galaxy A72. This includes; a more powerful yet power-efficient Snapdragon 778G 5G processor, bringing the first 108-megapixels on Galaxy A-series, and a higher 120Hz refresh rate display.

Here’s my first impression of the device and a full review will be coming up soon.
What’s in the box

- Samsung Galaxy A73 5G
- USB C to USB C Data/Charging Cable
- SIM Ejector Pin
- Quick Start Guide and Warranty Information
Like Samsung’s other phones and tablets for 2022, a charger is no longer provided in the box. You will have to use your own if you do happen to have one at home or opt for a new charger that supports 25W fast charging to take advantage of the Galaxy A73 5G’s fast charging support.
Design

The design language is inline across the board with the 2022 Galaxy A-series with a slight curvy edge on the camera bump, polycarbonate matte-finish back covers, plastic aluminum-like frame, and trendy pastel colors options; Awesome Gray, Awesome Mint and Awesome White which I have it now for this review.
Weight at just 181 grams and 7.6mm in thickness, sports a 6.7-inch display with decent bezels and a slightly thicker chin. Feature an optical in-display fingerprint scanner that works impressively fast. Inside the punch-hole cutout houses a 32-megapixels f/2.2 selfie camera.

Offers stereo dual speakers; one at the bottom and one on the earpiece. USB C port at the bottom alongside a microphone and the speaker. The power button and volume rocker are located on the right. While on the top are a noise-canceling microphone and a hybrid SIM card slot. It supports dual 5G networks or SIM2 used for storage expansion.

Similar to the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, it is IP67 dust and water-resistant and the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Overall, I love the simplicity of the design and huge display AMOLED display in such a lightweight and sleek form factor.
Display

Sporting a flat 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a 2,400 x 1,080 Full HD+ resolution display. The advanced panel has HDR support which works for both YouTube and Netflix.

Offers a bright 800 nits peak brightness and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate for better gaming experiences.
Under the hood

Performance-wise, the Galaxy A73 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G which is optimized to run games while offering better battery efficiency. It is also paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x of RAM which can further increase up to 16GB with Samsung RAM Plus (Virtual Memory).
The 256GB of storage is plenty to store a lot of media as well as games. Another advantage that the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G has over the Galaxy S22-series is that it has a microSD card slot that supports a memory card up to 1TB.
Camera

Equipped with a quad rear camera array consisting of a 108-megapixels f/1.8 main camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a 12-megapixels f/2.2 ultrawide camera, 5-megapixels f/2.4 macro lens, and a 5-megapixels f/2.4 depth sensor. The center punch-hole houses a 32-megapixels f/2.2 front camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is capable to records 4K@30fps on both rear and front cameras.

One UI 4.1

Samsung One UI is one of the cleanest Android OS skins after Google’s bare UI. In line with the new implementation of 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security updates on their flagship’s Samsung Galaxy S22 series, the Samsung Galaxy A-series get to enjoy the same treatment.
The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G has the latest One UI 4.1 based on the Android 12 and we will be seeing Android 16 made available before it gets obsolete.
Battery
Keeping the lights on is a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. Samsung claims it can offer 2-days of battery life on a single charge which needs to run a few tests to verify that.
Preliminary Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is the highest end of the Galaxy A series 2022 and also the priciest at RM 2,099. You get the flagship of the Galaxy A-series with the largest display, performer chipset, and a bellwether camera setup.
You can get more info about the device on their official online store or you can purchase it from SenQ and receive a FREE camera filter mount worth RM 169.
