In April 2023, HONOR launched the HONOR Magic Moments Awards 2023, a global competition celebrating creativity in smartphone photography. Submissions closed in August, and an international panel of judges spent months selecting the winners. Alongside six global categories, Malaysian photographers participated in the national awards under the theme #MagicMomentsofMalaysia, showcasing their country through HONOR smartphone cameras.

Photographer of The Year: Muhd Fuad secured his second consecutive win, capturing the essence of Borneo’s culture with the HONOR Magic5 Pro. His victory earned him RM 10,000 and solidified his status as a top talent in Art, Culture, and Heritage photography.

Master of Photography: Kenji Ooi and Yusuf Madi were honored with the Master of Photography title, each receiving RM 5,000 for their outstanding work. Ooi’s shot featured Malaysia’s iconic towers, while Madi explored Sarawak’s jungle depths.

Prestigious and Honorable Awards: Thomas Cheah, Mohamad Nor Amrey bin Rosley, and Shahrulnizam received the Prestigious Photographer Award, earning HONOR Magic5 Pro units. Ten photographers were recognized with the Honorable Photographer Award.

Best Recommendation Award: Malaysian photographers Ahmed Bakarat, Muhd Fuad, and KL Chong gained international recognition with their submissions, showcasing Malaysia’s creativity in smartphone photography.
