Global tech brand HONOR has announced a major software update commitment, pledging to provide seven years of Android OS and security updates for its flagship HONOR Magic series, starting with the HONOR Magic7 Pro in European Union markets. This extended support will gradually be rolled out to the Malaysian market in the near future.
The announcement is part of the brand’s HONOR ALPHA PLAN, underscoring its dedication to prioritizing customer needs and making it one of the few companies in the industry to offer such long-term support. HONOR hopes this move will inspire other industry players to follow suit, giving consumers more access to the latest innovations while ensuring better security across the smartphone ecosystem.
James Li, CEO of HONOR, commented, “The HONOR ALPHA PLAN emphasizes a consumer-centric approach to our future products. Our goal is to offer devices that not only meet but exceed consumer expectations, now and in the future. By extending seven years of Android OS and security updates to the HONOR Magic series, including both bar and foldable phones, we are excited to deliver this commitment to our customers.“
The extended updates contribute to the longevity of devices, reducing e-waste and aligning with sustainability goals. In addition, users will benefit from high-performing devices equipped with cutting-edge AI technology throughout their longer lifecycles. HONOR plans to expand this initiative to more flagship models, including bar and foldable phones, in the future.
