Xiaomi Unveiled Second Generation Mi Pad. Running On Android or Full Fledged Windows 10 Operating System

Today Xiaomi has announced three new products and one of it is the Mi Pad 2. It was a surprise to know that Xiaomi is getting serious with their partnership with Microsoft by having its second generation tablet to runs on Android or Microsoft Windows 10 operating system.

The new Mi Pad 2 has a total new makeover with unibody metal design and much more sleek and light. Pardon me, it does look like the iPad mini 4 that runs on Android / Windows 10.

The Mi Pad 2 is powered with 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor that clocked up to 2.24GHz. This processor is based on 14nm process that we would lower power consumption and better performance.

Xiaomi device that runs on Microsoft Windows is nothing new as they has their first working Mi 4 running Windows. By having x86 Intel processor in the heart of Mi Pad 2, running Windows 10 operating system is much more promising.

Mi Pad 2 has 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and souped with Intel HD GPU. It sports a 7.9-inch QXGA (4:3 ratio) IPS display which the same size with it previous generation.

Mi Pad 2 also features dual cameras, 8 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front facing camera. It will be using the latest reversible USB Type-C and come with WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS chip.

It packed with a non-removable 6,190mAh battery that rated to have 648.8 hours of standby time and support fast charging 5V/2A.

The new Mi Pad 2 is 11% lighter and 18% thinner that it predecessor.

The Mi Pad 2 comes in 2 variant storage size, 16GB and 64GB. As for the Microsoft Windows 10 version would only comes in 64GB variant.

The Android powered Mi Pad 2 version will go on sale in China starting 27th November 2015 and will be priced at RMB 999 (approx. RM 662) and RM 1,299 (approx RM 860) respectively. The Windows 10 will be available in December 2015 and will be priced at the same price with 64GB’s Android version. It comes in two colours, Dark Grey and Champagne Gold.

I was a bit curious why Xiaomi didn’t introduce any keyboard to goes along with the Mi Pad 2 since it has a Windows 10 version.
