Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 – 93.4% Screen-to-body Ratio & Magnetic Slider Mechanic Design

Xiaomi Mi MIX was introduced as a concept phone that can be purchased 2 years ago. The company then has released 2 more MIX model, MIX 2 and MIX 2S where features an almost bezel-less display.

Last week, Xiaomi has finally unveiled their true bezel-less display that has 93.4% screen-to-body-ratio phone, the Mi MIX 3. They have finally found a way to place their awkwardly positioned front camera by hiding behind a slider. Yes! The slider that reminded us of Nokia N95.

The Mi MIX 3 has a huge 6.39-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The ceramic glass on the rear is still present on the MIX 3 with 2 new colors besides Black are Blue and Jade Green.

Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 paired with up to 10GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. No microSD card expansion made available on MIX 3.

It uses a magnetic slider mechanic design to hide the dual-front facing camera. The company also claimed that it can withstand more than 300,000 slides of life-span.

The cameras were one of their weaknesses among their MIX-series. There’s a huge improvement in camera performance where DxOMark announced the Mi MIX 3 received 108 points in photo category and 93 points in the video category. Making its the top 5 best camera phone in the market with average 103 points.

The rear camera setup is a dual 12-megapixels wide and telephoto whereby the selfie camera is made of 24-megapixel plus 2-megapixel that works as DOF. All the camera are A.I. powered for better and easy point-and-shoot. 960fps slow-mo video recording is also supported on the Mi MIX 3.

At the moment, the Mi MIX 3 is also made available for China market and we do expect to see it to launch for the global market with 5G support.

The starting price of Mi MIX 3 is RMB 3,299 (about RM 1,982) for the 6GB + 128GB variant and up to RMB 4,999 (approx. RM 2,999) for the top-tier 10GB + 256GB
