Xiaomi used to differentiate their premium flagship and mid range devices by name it Mi and Redmi. This time, the company introduced a new mid-range device featuring premium touch and features.
The Mi 5X is focus on it dual camera setup that found on the Mi 6. A combination of dual 12 megapixel camera where it shoot in wide and telephoto individually.
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and mated with 4GB of RAM. Storage wise is a 64GB and that can be further expands via microSD card slot.
The Mi 5X has a 5.5-inch Full HD resolution display and packed with 3,080 mAh battery. It also include anti-fingerprint coating and discreet antenna full metal unibody design.
The fingerprint scanner is located on the rear just like the Redmi Note 4. The device runs on the latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat that will be officially roll out next month.
The Mi 5X also feature dedicated audio amplifier and DHS audio calibration algorithm that improve headphone/speaker outputs.
At the moment, the Mi 5X is only announced for China market at the price of RMB 1,499, which is around RM 949. Not sure it would be made available here in Malaysia and how to position it as the price is very close to their Redmi Note 4.
