Whatsapp will be rolling out an update that allows you to backup your precious conversations and media safely into your Google Drive.

You may not have the functions yet if you using the official app from Google PlayStore. With a manual update to version v2.12.235 from Whatsapp’s official website, you will be greeted with option to backup your messages and media to Google Drive like below:

In future, you would not need to perform anymore manual backup and restore when you jumping into another phone.

This version also included new set of emoji that has colour skin different and the middle finger emoji.
