Samsung Electronics Inc. has just unveiled its Galaxy S-series for 2023, the Samsung Galaxy S23. It consists of 3 models similar to the previous series, the Samsung Galaxy S23 5G, Samsung Galaxy S23+ 5G, and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G which has an S-Pen.
The trio is powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and only a 12GB option for the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G. Offered 256GB UFS 4.0 as standard for the Galaxy S23+ 5G and Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G.
Coming to the design, there isn’t much noticeable aesthetic update on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G as it shared the same design as its predecessor. It even has the same rear camera position and buttons.
Sport the same 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED 2X 120Hz LTPO display and the display curvature has been reduced, offering a slightly flatter screen and an S-Pen slot at the bottom right. It feels boxier just like how the Galaxy Note was designed.
The significant improvement would be the new primary camera sensor, the Samsung ISOCELL HP2, a 200-megapixels camera sensor built around 0.6μm pixels in a 1/1.3″ optical format.
The Samsung ISOCELL HP2 with Tetra2pixel is an advanced form of pixel-binning technology that provides greater versatility to the camera.
Samsung introduced Dual-VTG technology, DSG, and Smart-ISO Pro that enabled the Galaxy S23 Ultra to take the best pictures and videos in normal, low-light, and brightly lit environments.
The sensor is also capable of recording 8K videos at 30fps and 4K HDR videos at 60fps.
Accompany by the same rear camera setup; a 12-megapixels f/2.2 ultrawide, a 10-megapixels f/4.9 10x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixels f/2.4 3x zoom portrait camera. It gets the same 12-megapixels front camera with autofocus across the board.
While the Galaxy S23 5G and Galaxy S23 Plus 5G get a slight design update in which Samsung aligned the same design language with individual camera bumps similar to the Galaxy S22/S23 Ultra 5G.
Sporting with the same flat FHD+ AMOLED 2X 120Hz refresh rate display with 6.1-inch and 6.6-inch respectively. This same goes with the rear camera setup; equipped with a 50-megapixels primary camera, a 12-megapixels ultrawide, and a 10-megapixels 3x zoom portrait camera.
The duo even receives a battery bump of 200 mAh, Galaxy S23 5G is packed with a 3,900 mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S23 Plus 5G gets a 4,700 mAh battery. The Galaxy S23+ 5G and Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G feature Samsung 45W PD fast charging while the vanilla supports Samsung 25W PD fast charging. A 15W wireless fast charging and 10W wireless power share come as standard.
