Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has officially announced; skipping Note 6 with the reason of keeping the next Note to placed in-line with this year’s Galaxy S7 devices.
The new Note inherited with the best features and hardware from the Galaxy S7 edge with improved S-Pen, iris scanner and slightly bigger display. The phone is wrapped with two symmetrically curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5 between a metal frame. This is the first device to feature Corning Gorilla Glass 5 where the company claimed to have the “toughest cover glass to date in the market”.
The Note 7 sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED with dual curved edge with QHD resolution. The curved edge are not as extreme curved as the S7 edge but yet it still able to enjoy the Edge Display feature. This giving an impression of side border-less display. Like the S7 device, the Note 7 get IP68 rating dust and water resistant.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is also the first mobile display to feature HDR support that adopted from their 4K TVs which produce more colors and scenes at high contrast.
The improved S Pen has smaller tip that give a ballpoint pen alike experience. The new stylus is much more sensitive and it can even write underwater. There are few new features include text magnifying glass, translator tools and GIF creator.
An iris scanner is also introduced onto the Galaxy Note 7 with a dedicated infra-red camera that allows to scan your eye to unlock your phone even at low light environments. This doesn’t replace the fingerprint reader as it still made available on this Note 7 for secure Samsung Pay, Knox and third-party apps.
The Note 7 is Samsung first device to have USB Type-C and we may be seeing more USB Type-C Samsung device in future. It packed with a 3,500 mAh battery and support Quick Charging regardless on cable or wireless.
The 12 megapixel dual-pixel camera from the Galaxy S7 is back on the Note 7. This is so far the most superior mobile camera thus there are no changes on the Note 7. It features a f/1.7 aperture lens and OIS. On the front is a 5 megapixel wide lens selfie camera that is the same from the S7.
The Note 7 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (US only) or Samsung Exynos 8890 processor and mated with 4GB of RAM. Yes! No 6GB as rumored. It get a slightly bigger onboard storage of UFS 2.0 64GB that can further expand
via microSD card on the hybrid SIM 2 slot.
Samsung has customized the Note 7 user interface to much more simpler and neat based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
