Here’s a quick unboxing video of the Ultrlite Headphone;
Inside the box are the Philips SHB4405 Headphone, a microUSB cable for charging and some documents. It comes with two colors options; Glossy Black & Glossy White.
My first impression when I hold up this headphone is “light-weight” and the ear-cup cushions are extremely soft. The cover of the ear-cup is high-glossy like glass, but it tend to catch fingerprint smudge easily.
The right side of the ear-cup placed the multi-function button with LED indicator and volume rocker on the side edge. Below it is a microUSB port to charge the Ultrlite. Microphone is built-in bi-direction to our mouth when we wearing it.
The cushion on the ear-cup is one of the softest ear-cushion headphones I ever wore and it’s not very thick at all.
The headband is very slim yet robust. If you did check out the unboxing video above, I did try bend it and it can go very wide.
One sweet thing about the Philips Ultrlite is the flat folding design. The ear-cup can be tilted flat and it’s easier to store it in my backpack easier without worry damaging it. It would be plus point if Philips includes a case/pouch along with the headphone.
In order to make a light-weight and slim design, usage of plastics are unavoidable. Luckily the material that Philips choose are stout and robust.
I’ve paired the Philips Ultrlite on my phone and as well my notebook. The pairing process is very simple and straight-forward. Press and hold the multimedia button for 2 seconds to power on and press and hold again 3 seconds to power it off.
To enable discovery/pairing mode, power off the headphone and press and hold the multimedia button for 8 seconds till the LED indication start flashing Blue and Red alternately. Now the Bluetooth pairing takes place. Once the pairing is successful, only the Blue LED blink gradually.
The multimedia button also works to Play/Pause music and to Answer/Reject phone calls. The volume buttons not only manage the audio output it also does track control by press and hold for 2 seconds to change Next/Previous tracks.
The audio output from the Philips Ultrlite is surprisingly good for a compact headphone. I can’t detect any kind of distoration in any levels of volume, song or instruments. The vocals are clear with good mid tones and decent bass.
Battery life of Ultrlite is decent; the company claims that the headphone can have 9 hours of playback and goes up to 300 hours of standby. It has low battery indication and to complete a full charge only takes under 2 hours.
Did I mention the Philips Ultrlite has microphone? It doesn’t only take calls it also compatible with Siri and Google now with a press on earcan button. This allows you to use your virtual assistant at seam.
Because of the small size on-ear headphone, it doesn’t really cover up my whole ear thus the noise isolation is hardly there therefore I tend to set volume higher when I’m in public. Luckily the volume can be control from the headphone itself rather the need to take out my phone to control the volume.
The Philips SHB4405 Ultrlite Wireless Bluetooth Headphone is very light-weight and offers high resolution audio quality. The ease of pairing and practical wireless control makes the convenience use of headphone seamlessly.
