[REVIEW] Kingston MobileLite Duo 3C. More Than a microSD Card Reader

Kingston, the second largest supplier of flash memory that includes USB Flash drives, Flash Cards, and PC based solid-state drives. They recently launched a new microSD card reader, MobileLite Duo 3C. The drive is very company and premium built.

This is not a usual card reader, the MobileLite Duo 3C features a dual-interface to works with both USB Type A (USB 3.0) and also Type-C ports. The MobileLite Duo 3C is compliant with the USB 3.1 that offers high speeds transfer of up to 5Gbps. Of course, the actual performance is still subject to the performance of the microSD card.

Here’s a quick unboxing of the MobileLite Duo 3C and inserting a microSD card.

When microSD card is getting common as devices’ external storage together with the widespread use of USB Type-C connector, this MobileLite Duo 3C does make a total sense. You can have your own storage size option to turn it into a flash drive for PC/Mac (USB Type-A/Type-C on Mac) or flash drive for your Android devices that equipped with USB Type-C. Of course, a perfect card reader to read on your PC/Mac/Android (USB Type-C)

Based on our test with the MobileLite Duo 3C on Kingston 64GB microSDXC UHS Speed Class 3 card that rated 90MB/s read and 45MB/s write. The CrystalDiskMark shows that it able to perform almost 100% of the card performance.

In the packing, it included a string to tied up with the USB Type-C cap to avoid it gone missing.

The Kingston MobileLite Duo 3C is definitely an ideal device regardless for personal or professional use. Its functionality doesn’t only limit as a card reader, it also serves as a compact flash drive that works on PC and as well on Android smartphone.
