You may have seen the Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker that sold very well in China and as well in Malaysia with reputable quality and of course affordable price point.
Edifier has one that offers even better built, solid audio quality, longevity battery life and affordable price tag. Inter-Asia has sent us their latest Edifier MP120, it’s a metal Bluetooth V5.0 portable speaker.
The packaging of the speaker is pretty simple, it only comes with some documentation, MP120 Bluetooth speaker, and a decent length microUSB cable. Unfortunately, no pouch or case provided in the box.
The Edifier MP120 outer is built entirely with metals including the side that places the ports. Thanks to the CNC machining, the edges are smooth and perfect-fits. It feels very solid on hand and looks premium.
The portable speaker has a minimalist design with an Edifier brand on the top left and a simple logo on the back. The matte dark grey colour matches pretty well with MacBook or iPhone/iPad in Space Gray.
It has complete input ports that other competitors do not have such as Auxiliary and microSD card input. This is useful when you want to play songs that you have saved in your memory card or plugging to your music player.
On the right side, it has 4 buttons and a LED indicator;
- Power – Short Press (Switch mode between; Bluetooth, AUX and microSD)
- Power – Long Press (On/Off)
- Power – Double Press (Check Battery Level)
- Volume Up – Short Press (Volume Up)

Behind the tiny holes grills, mounted 4W + 4W RMS total power output Dual front-range speaker with a passive radiator. It has a lower-power Class-G amplifier that delivers up to 6W per channel, providing power to the speakers with low distortion.
With such powerful speakers output, we do expect vibration coming from the portable speaker. To counter that, Edifier actually uses a simple solution which is foam pads. It doesn’t only absorber vibration and it also gave a better grip whatever surface you place the portable speaker.
It playback songs via Bluetooth, AUX and microSD card. The latency is very minimal when you play it through Bluetooth, thank the stable Bluetooth V5.0.
The two full-range drivers with passive radiator play in stereo have a crisp clear treble and impressively loud bass. The sound is clean through the frequency range, especially in the lows and mids. It can go very loud yet the sound distortion is pretty minimum even at up to 80%.
The soundstage is excellent which create a fair amount of width. It was able to fill a small size classroom without any issue.
The Edifier MP120 is packed with a huge 2,200 mAh battery that can deliver up to 19 hours of music playbacks with just a single charge. You can check the battery level by double press the power button and it will read out loud the percentage.
On our test with 40% volume via AUX, it lasted us 23 hours with 10% battery left. Of course, the battery life would be different if we set it at a higher volume.
With all the bells and whistles, the Edifier MP120 is going for only RM 149. This is one solid portable Bluetooth speaker that does not fail to impress with high audio performance.
You can get them from Lazada Malaysia now for under RM 130 on Lazada Malaysia 9.9 Flash Sales
For the price of RM 149, the Edifier MP120 stands out as one of the better affordable high-quality portable Bluetooth speakers. It even outclasses the Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker that offers the same price.
• Solid and Premium Build
• Punchy Bass Yet Less Distortion
• Wide Soundstage
• Doesn’t Come with Any Pouch/Case
Havr you reviewed sony srs xb-12 yet? If yes, which one have richer bass sound? I mean more deep bass sound? Please email me the reply. I’m in dilemma to buy which one of these two. Thank you.
If you are travelling a lot with portable Bluetooth speaker I would suggest you grab the SONY XB-12 which is built for rugged and waterproof. If you prioritized SQ, the Edifier has much stronger bass and sound stage
Hi what about edifier mp270 Vs this mp120? Which one better base and SQ? is this the best Bluetooth portable speaker for below 150rm in your opinion? Thanks very much for your review and reply in advance!
Have not tried that out but the MP270 is more an outdoor Bluetooth speaker. By looking at specs, the MP120 has a higher RMS output at 8W where the MP270 is only 5.5W.
