Quick Charge for a smartphone is getting common and becoming standard nowadays, yet we can only enjoy the fast charging feature through a quick charge wall brick/charger.
ASUS has included Quick Charge 2.0 on their latest ZenPower power bank; ZenPower Pro & ZenPower Ultra. ZenPower Pro is packed with a 10,050mAh battery capacity whereby the ZenPower Ultra carry 20,100mAh battery capacity.
Thank to ASUS Malaysia I received an unit of the ZenPower Pro to review;
It has the rounded side design that made up of aluminium material. The size is very compact and light; 100 x 59.6 x 22mm & 230 grams only. ASUS claimed the ZenPower Pro is one of the smallest power banks for its capacity at a credit card sized footprint.
It comes with a compact length USB cable.
It has dual USB ports for dual device charging and one of the port (with silver lining marking) feature Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. It also integrated with a 5,000K at 70 lumens LED flashlight. It will trigger when you press and hold the power button for more than 2 seconds. I must say, the light output is very bright.
The first USB port that feature Quick Charge 2.0 port provide 5.1V / 2.4A or 9.1V / 2A or 12V / 1.5A (QC 2.0) power output. The second USB port only gives standard 5.1V / 2.4A power out. Both combines power output is up to 23.5W. The ZenPower Pro also supports pass-through charging, which allows you to charge your phone while charging the ZenPower Pro.
Do take note that, the ZenPower Pro doesn’t support quick charge input. It only receives 5V / 2A and takes around 6 hours to complete full charge of the power bank from flat.
In my case, I use my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for the test. My phone are able to recognise the fast charging input and the charging time is 1.5 times shorter as compare to normal 5V / 2.1A power bank. I do notice that my Quick Charge wall brick tend to heat up while charging my phone but out of surprise, the ZenPower Pro stay relatively cold when charging my phone.
Final thought of the ASUS ZenPower Pro/Ultra;
ASUS ZenPower Pro/Ultra may not be the most affordable powerbank in the market but it feature what 2016’s powerbank should have.
Pros
• Compact & lightweight
• Support Qualcomm Quick Charge
Cons
• Sharp edges that may scratch your phone if you place it together
• Easy-to-scratch aluminium body
• No quick charging input (ASUS ZenPower Ultra comes with quick charging input)
The ASUS ZenPower Pro & ZenPower Ultra will be available early August 2016 at all major retail outlets with the recommended price of RM 129 & RM 249 respectively. Both of the power bank comes with three color options; Black, Pink & White.
In some countries it is sold with a protective silicone sleeve. Unfortunately, not mine. It seems that even in yours.
