OPPO F7 Unboxing & Hands-On: Midrange Device, Flagship Design

The successor of the OPPO F5 has arrived with major overhauled design and embedded artificial intelligence, A.I. The OPPO F7 adopted notch on display and as well as new trending 19:9 ratio display.

Let’s begin with an unboxing video:

This is not the final or official unit that will be selling here in Malaysia, thus the accessories may differ.

Specification
∙ MediaTek Helio P60
∙ 6.23-inch 19:9 Super Full Screen IPS Display (2,280 x 1,080 resolutions)
∙ 4GB of RAM
∙ 64GB Onboard Storage
∙ ColorOS 5.0 on top Android 8.1 Oreo
∙ 3,400 mAh Battery

My first impression of the new OPPO F7 is “Premium Flagship” and the display resembling the Apple iPhone X but keeping the notch smaller. The display is now bigger at 88% screen-to-body ratio where the notch houses the selfie camera, earpiece, and some sensors.

Unlike its predecessor the OPPO F5, the F7 sport new design that looks more appealing. The unibody back is now made glass-like plastic and glossy finish.

The fingerprint scanner is positioned at the back of the phone and Face Unlock is also available that works seamlessly even in low-lighted environments.

The physical button on the left side are volume rocker and the right is the power button. The buttons are responsive and tactile.

OPPO still having microUSB for charging and sync despite but VOOC Flash charging feature is not included on the OPPO F7 which make no sense to keep microUSB port.

The latest midrange SoC from MediaTek Helio P60 brings in the Mali-G72 MP3 graphic with 4GB should be able to handle major of the new mobile games.

64GB should be more than enough for apps and files (Photos, Videos, and documents) if that’s not enough, the OPPO F7 comes with a dedicated microSD card slot along-side with dual nano-SIM slot.

Let’s come to the camera, the F-series is OPPO’s selfie-centric lineup device. It now has a monstrous 25-megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. It also comes with AI Beauty Technology 2.0 for a great selfie-taking assistant.

As for the rear camera, it’s a single 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 wide aperture lens. Yeap! No dual rear camera. A.I. is also embedded which capable to identify 16-different scenes and objects in real-time.

The OPPO F7 is available for pre-order starting 16th to 17th April 2018 and the official launch will be on the 19th of April 2018.
