It comes with the OPPO A77s, a clear TPU case, a 33W SuperVOOC Flash Charge charger, USB A to USB C cable, some documents, and a SIM ejector pin.

Design & Built

OPPO A77s Reno Glow Design

The OPPO A77s is offered in two color options; Sky Blue and Starry Black. The boxy shape design with plastic cover adopted the OPPO Reno Glow design that adds grips while featuring scratch-resistant and fingerprint smudge-free. Additionally to that, the OPPO A77s is IP54 dust and water-resistant.

OPPO A77s SIM Tray

Support dual nano SIM and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB. The power button on the right side doubled as a fingerprint scanner.

OPPO A77s 3.5mm

While at the bottom, we have a 3.5mm audio jack, microphone, USB C port, and a loudspeaker. The earpiece also works as a loudspeaker to create stereo audio.

The display bezels are rather thick which is added from the frame’s chamfered edge. Hard not to notice the big chin from yesteryear’s smartphone design.

Display

Sports a 6.6-inch 1,612 x 720p HD+ LCD with 90Hz refresh rate. According to OPPO, this panel offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamuts and outputs 480 nits peak brightness. Not the brightest but the colors are pretty vibrant and accurate.

The dewdrop notch houses an 8-megapixels f/2.0 front camera with selfies HDR.

Camera

Equipped with a dual rear camera setup; a 50-megapixels main camera paired with a depth sensor. Basically, it’s a single-shooter camera with no ultrawide.

OPPO A77s Camera

The OPPO A77s is capable to record videos up to Full HD and doesn’t feature any OIS or EIS.

Here are some photos taken with the OPPO A77s.

The photos taken are just adequate with enough details during daylight. When come to low light, the use of night mode does boost the images brighter but compensates for artifacts and noise. Photos taken from the front camera were just decent and noticeable noise when zoomed in.

Performance

Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. With the latest ColorOS 12.1, it allows the device temporarily increase the amount of memory up to 5GB making it a total of 13GB.

The OPPO A77s can easily handle my day-to-day use and gaming during my break.

Here are some synthetic benchmark test results;

Battery Life

Backed with a 5,000 mAh battery and supports OPPO’s 33W SuperVOOC Flash Charge that can top up to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Good thing the charger is included but worth noting the SuperVOOC charger is proprietary and it won’t get fast charging speed from GaN or other Quick Charge protocols chargers.

With low resolution and considering huge battery capacity, the OPPO A77s can provide a substantially longer screen-on-time (SoT), somewhere 7 to hours. Having it as a secondary device, I would only need to charge it once every 2 days.

OPPO A77 5G vs OPPO A77s

There are 3 main differences between these two. The A77s uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G instead of MediaTek 810 5G but the OPPO A77s gets more RAM and a higher 50-megapixels primary rear camera.

Price

You can get the OPPO A77s starting today at RM 999 and receive a Y.O.U. Beauty Facial travel kits worth RM 99.

Verdict

Here’s the thing about the new OPPO A77s, OPPO has the exact device but with a 5G offering, which is the OPPO A77 5G. The price gap isn’t that huge which would make a head-turner.

If you want to save a couple of bucks and 5G isn’t important, the OPPO A77s is quick a good midrange device with snappy performance and great battery life. Warning, this device has no ultrawide camera so do put that into your expectation.
