Samsung has just unpacked its newest Samsung Galaxy foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5. Here are the official pricing and specifications for the Malaysia market;
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are powered by the flagship’s Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, the same powerful chipset that fuels the Galaxy S23 series.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 now gets a bigger 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover display that now can do much more including new improved widgets and runs apps natively like WhatsApp, Google Maps, YouTube, Messaging apps, and even Netflix. The cover display and back cover are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the inner folding screen is protected with Ultra Thin Glass (UTG).
The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display is a 120Hz LTPO that has a 2,640 x 1,080 resolution and boasts up to 1,750 nit peak brightness. The Galaxy Z Flip5 is now folded flat with zero gaps and improved with much narrower bezels.
Photography-wise, it is equipped with the same camera setup as its predecessor; a 10MP f/2.2 selfie camera on the inner screen. Dual 12MP camera setup; primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, while the ultrawide camera has a 123-degree FOV.
Packed with a 3,700 mAh battery dual battery that supports 25W wired fast charge and 15W wireless fast charge. It also supports Wireless PowerShare which allows wireless reverse charging for wearables like Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watches.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold5 receives the same gapless folding screen treatment. Sports the same 7.6-inch 120Hz LTPO QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X folding screen and 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz Adaptive HD+ cover screen.
Aesthetically, they aren’t much change including the rear triple camera setup; 50MP f/1.8 OIS primary, 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 10MP f/2.2 hole-punch cutout on the cover screen. There’s also a 4MP f/1.8 Under Display Camera (UDC) on the folding screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 still gets S Pen input supports but there still isn’t any slot made available to keep the S Pen. Instead, Samsung introduces a flat-side and thinner S Pen that store flush on Samsung’s optional protective case.
Keeping the lights on is a 4,400 mAh dual battery that supports 25 wired and 15W wireless fast charging, plus wireless PowerShare.
Both run on OneUI 5.1.1 based on Android and feature IPX8 water resistance.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is available in 8 color options; Mint, Graphite, Cream, Lavender; and Gray, Blue, Green, and Yellow will be online exclusive. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 offered in 6 colors; Icy Blue, Phantom Black, Cream; and Gray and Blue will be exclusive on Samsung’s online store.
