Redmi First Android Go Smartphone, Redmi Go – Snapdragon 425, 3,000 mAh & 5-inch 16:9 Display

Some of you may have heard of Android One and do you know Google also has this Android Go that runs on low-specs Android smartphone. It’s a light-weight Operating System that even runs with 512MB of RAM.

Redmi by Xiaomi has released its second smartphone after Redmi Note 7, Redmi Go. This is also the first smartphone by the company to run on Android Go OS. It has very basic hardware which makes the device more accessible to anyone.

The Redmi Go is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 mated with 1GB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage. It sports a more traditional 5.0-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 which translated to a 16:9 screen ratio.

Cameras wise are an 8-megapixel f/2.0 with Auto Focus rear camera and a 5-megapixels f/2.2 selfie camera. To keep the lights on is a 3,000 mAh battery that charges through microUSB (5W). It comes with dual 4G standby and dedicated microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB.

Redmi Go will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition and Android 9 Pie Go ready.

The official price for Redmi Go is €80 (about RM 376) in Europe and expected to go on sale later in February. Normally Malaysia price would be set lower compared to the official price in Europe, our guestimate when it’s available in Malaysia should be around RM 299 – RM 339.
