HMD Global has revealed the company’s first Nokia Android Flagship smartphone today, the Nokia 8. The company played very safe design and nothing much “wow” features being introduced into this device. We are not seeing any trendy slim bezel nor tall ratio display.

The Nokia 8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, 64GB onboard storage and sports 5.3-inch QHD IPS display. Nokia did include always-on-display (AOD) on the LCD panel which is not favorable for a non-OLED panel. It will show calls, emails, SMS and also social network notification in the future.

Nokia 8 is the company first device Nokia-branded Android phone to feature Zeiss optics on the front and rear cameras. The rear sports dual 13-megapixel camera sensor, an RGB and a monochrome sensor that similar to the Huawei flagship P & Mate series.

Nokia has this “Bothie Mode” that activate both front and the rear cameras to capture photos, video s and also support live broadcasting to Facebook and YouTube through the camera interface. This is a camera gimmick that may lead to a trend especially more and more user would like to use “Live” feature on their social platform.

With the Bothie mode function, Nokia also includes an integration of Nokia’s Ozo Audio. This Ozo technology is used on Nokia’s futuristic camera for virtual reality filming and now HMD bringing the audio feature over the Nokia 8. This would be a great feature to capture videos that use both front and rear cameras at the same time capture 360-degree of audio.

The Nokia 8 will be joining the existing Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 as the flagship device in the range. It will go on sales across in Europe as early next month, September and priced at 599 euro which translated to around RM 3,028. Not sure it would reach to Malaysia shores anytime soon as the Nokia 6 has only recently reached to Malaysia.
