Maxis’s NeXT X1 Are Total Ripped Off Package Plan

Today Maxis has announced their second new smartphone NeXT X1.

The package offered is a free device, NeXT X1 with Maxis Postpaid Starter Plan 98 (RM 98/month) and it comes in a contract of 24 months. The postpaid includes 3GB (Weekdays) + 3GB (4G Weekend) and free 50 minutes call to all networks.

NeXT by Maxis, X1

▪ Qualcomm Snapdragon 435
▪ 5.5-inch Full HD Display
▪ 3GB of RAM
▪ 32GB Onboard Storage
▪ 16-Megapixel Rear Camera
▪ 8-Megapixel Front Camera
▪ 3,000 mAh Battery
▪ Android 7.1 Nougat

Why this package is not recommended? Let’s do some comparison;

U Mobile (P48) – RM 48/month
5GB Internet + 5GB VideoONZ (YouTube, Netflix, iflix, Facebook and more)
Unlimited Calls to All Networks
Unlimited AppONZ (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter)
Unlimited Data Usage on Waze

DiGi Postpaid 50 – RM 50/month
5GB (Weekdays) + 5GB (Weekend)
100 min Call to All Networks

You are saving at least RM 48/month. Assume 24-month plans you are paying extra RM 1,200 for an entry-level specced smartphone. With RM 1,200, you can buy much better device compared to the NeXT X1. Example; ASUS ZenFone 4 Max Pro, ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie, Xiaomi Mi A1, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, honor 6X, SONY Xperia XA1, OPPO F1s, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, Nokia 6, moto M, vivo V5s, Huawei nova 2i, honor 8, and much more reputable brand of smartphone.

Bear in mind, this is contract-free and you can switch to any telco as you like.

Note! This is just our personal opinions on the NeXT X1 package and not bashing or promoting others brands/products. If Maxis is serious to gain back more subscribers, do offer better value plan, at least competitive with other telcos out there.
