HUAWEI has unveiled its latest flagship Mate-series smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate40-series. There are 3 variants; HUAWEI Mate40, HUAWEI Mate40 Pro and HUAWEI Mate40 Pro+

Powering the Mate40 Pro and Mate40 Pro+ is the Kirin 9000 that built on 5nm process with 5G modem. The SoC delivering vastly improved performance and power efficiency over its predecessor. The CPU running at clock frequencies of up to 3.13Ghz and mated with 24-core Mali-G78 GPU and two big cores plus one Tiny core NPU. On the other hand, the standard Mate40 get Kirin 9000E with slight lower GPU core counts at 22 and Single Big Core on the NPU, the rest is pretty the same.

Coming to display the Mate40 features a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2,376 x 1,080) OLED with 90Hz refresh rate display and 68-degree curved. As for the Mate40 Pro and above has a slightly large 6.76-inch FHD+ (2,772 x 1,344) OLED with 90Hz refresh rate display. The curvate is more aggressive which at 88-degree similar to the predecessor, Mate30 Pro.

Camera setup made most differences between the variants;

HUAWEI Mate40 equipped with triple rear camera setup; 50-megapixle s f/1.9 wide angle camera, 16-megapixels Cine Camera f/2.2 ultrawide and an 8-megapixels f/2.4 Telephoto with OIS. The Mate40 Pro and Mate40 Pro+ get the same 50-megapixels f/1.9 main camera, 20-megapixels Cine Camera f/1.8 ultrawide, 12-megapixels f/3.4 telephoto with 3x optical zoom with OIS. The Mate40 Pro+ has 2 more additional camera sensor; an 8-megapixels f/4.4 10x optical zoom with OIS and a 3D depth sensor.

The Mate40 features a single hole-punch notch on the top left houses a 13-megapixels where the Mate40 Pro and Mate40 Pro+ gets pill-shaped notch with an additional 3D Depth Sensing Camera. The front camera is capable to shoot 4K and supports 240fps slow-mo @ 1,080 resolution.
Keeping the lights on is 4,200 mAh battery on the Mate 40 and 4,400 mAh battery on the Mate40 Pro and Pro+. It supports up to 66W wired HUAWEI SuperCharge and 50W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge on the Mate40 Pro and Pro+. The Mate40 only supports 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge with no wireless charge supported.
Do take note that the HUAWEI Mate40-series runs on EMUI 11.0 based on Android 10 without Google Mobile Services. AppGallery and Petal Search are the option to downloads your apps.
There are no words when it will be available in Malaysia market but these are the official price announced during the launch;

- HUAWEI Mate40 (8GB + 128GB) – € 899 (~MYR RM 4,416)
- HUAWEI Mate40 Pro (8GB + 256GB) – € 1,199 (~MYR RM 5,890)
- HUAWEI Mate40 Pro+ (12GB + 256) – € 1,399 (~MYR RM 6,872)
