After the countless leaks on the HUAWEI P20-series and now finally, the device announced at an exclusive launch event in Grand Palais. This is the first the world’s first Leica triple camera smartphone.
“We look for inspiration from artists to continuously evolve our approach to design and innovation,” said Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer, HUAWEI Consumer Business Group. “The HUAWEI P20 Series builds on the legacy of our collaboration with Leica. With a breakthrough triple camera on the HUAWEI P20 Pro, an advanced dual camera on the HUAWEI P20, and powerful artificial intelligence on both, today’s most vibrant consumers can capture and share the brilliance of the world around them.”
There are 3 variants, P20 Pro, P20 and P20 lite. We will be focusing on the P20 and P20 Pro.
These are the difference between the Pro and the standard variant;
The P20 Pro get a 6.1-inch OLED display panel whereby the P20 standard gets 5.8-inch IPS display panel. Both features Full HD+ resolutions with a notch on top of the display to occupy the earpiece, front selfie camera, and ambiance light sensor. Camera wise the P20 Pro sports triple Leica cameras; 40-megapixel RGB sensor camera alongside with 20-megapixel monochrome camera sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture.
By sporting a bigger display on the Pro version, it packed with 4,000 mAh battery over 3,500 mAh on the P20. Performance wise, both powered by HUAWEI Kirin 970 processor and Mali G72 MP12 graphics chipset. The P20 Pro receive 6GB of RAM whereby the P20 only get 4GB of RAM.
The fingerprint scanner is located on the front instead of on the rear which can make more space for true edge-to-edge display like the Apple iPhone X.
Below are the official price of the HUAWEI P20-series;
▪ HUAWEI P20 (4GB of RAM, 128GB Storage) – €649 (approx RM 3,103)
▪ HUAWEI P20 Pro (6GB of RAM, 128GB Storage) – €899 (about RM 4,299)
HUAWEI Malaysia has sent out invites to the media to unveil the HUAWEI P20 and P20 Pro on 3rd April 2018 which I believe they will announce the prices and availability of the devices. My guts feel the HUAWEI P20 will position it at RM 3,099 and HUAWEI P20 Pro at RM 4,199.
More details review will be available once we able to obtain the review unit from HUAWEI Malaysia.
