Design & Accessories

The first thing that caught my attention is, how thin and light is this tablet. It weighs 449 grams with a thickness of just 5.9mm. It’s even thinner than any modern smartphone out there.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11

In Malaysia, they only offered one color option; Golden Black, matte black with a grained metallic coating, and some gold accent on the HUAWEI logo and camera bump.

Oreo shape camera bump houses a dual camera setup and a LED flash; a 13-megapixels primary with autofocus and an 8-megapixels ultrawide.

Like its other “Pro” HUAWEI MatePad, it comes with a host of accessories for a more productive laptop-like setup; including the HUAWEI M-Pencil 2nd Gen and an all-new HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard.

The M-Pencil is attached magnetically to the MatePad’s frame while not in use or to charge it when it’s low in battery. The low power consumption stylus can get you 10 minutes of writing with a quick 30 seconds of charge or 10 hours of writing when it’s fully charged.

What’s new with the HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard is the keyboard is detachable from its back cover. Aside from adding protection to the back of the tablet, it also works as a kickstand for different scenarios use; Eg watching movies or sketching with the M-Pencil.

I can also place the tablet further away while using the keyboard at a more comfortable angle and distance which is a plus point.

Little do to know, the back cover from the keyboard also serves as an amplifier for tablet signals as there’s a hidden floating antenna embedded.

The all-new HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard offers an M-Pencil slot holder that can keep the stylus securely when you want to keep your MatePad Pro 11 away or inside your backpack.

Display & Sound

Upfront is an 11-inch OLED 120Hz refresh rate display with a high 2,560 x 1,600 WQXGA+ resolution. HUAWEI claims the panel offers a 600 nits peak brightness and high accuracy color with DCI-P3 gamut and impressive Delta-E less than 1. Not too sure about the provided data as I don’t have a tool for the measurement, but the colors are excellent with deep blacks and bright like any other flagship OLED display. It gets HDR enabled on YouTube playback but only Widevine L3 certification with Netflix.

The 4.2mm only narrow bezels help produce an amazing 92% screen-to-body ratio. There’s a hole-punch cutout on the top left corner which houses a 16-megapixels front camera.

The superior 11-inch smooth OLED display perfectly complements the HUAWEI Sound, the first tablet to adopt this new audio technology. The 6 speakers are fine-tuned with balanced audio delivery, a decent wide soundstage, and solid output without any obvious crackling even at max levels.

Performance & HarmonyOS 3.0

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 or Snapdragon 888 (LTE) processor and coupled with an 8GB of memory and speedy UFS 3.1 storage.

The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11 performs smoothly and snappy, thanks to the new HUAWEI HarmonyOS 3.0 that improved algorithm management and polished its Super Device feature, bringing more seamless connectivity among compatible HUAWEI devices.

HUAWEI also enhanced its propriety software like App Multiplier which allows users to compare products and prices on a shopping app, or read articles from a news portal. Multi-Window for PC-like multitasking and the Multi-screen Collaboration which enabled the tablet to work as a second screen for your MateBook or even manage your HUAWEI smartphone’s calls and messages without lifting it.

Despite being not able to download apps from Google Play Store, the evergrowing HUAWEI AppGallery has brought in major of the apps that you would need for productivity usage and workaround apps.

If you using it for notetaking or creative applications like drawing or sketching, the M-Pencil has a high sensitivity of 4,096 pressure levels and low latency for more natural input.

Using the Notes app, it supports multiple formats for importing notes, personalized covers, rich note templates, and my all-time favorite; the lasso tool that I can use to select images and texts, move them around or convert handwriting to text, so you record minutes or any discussion quickly.

For creators, it has the ability to create artwork by using Mojing Paint, it is further amplified with its Color Capture feature, allowing accuracy in mapping colors from existing applications or even from the web and applying it to the artwork. Setting the HUAWEI MatePad Pro in Studio form that supports 120° or 165° provides stable support of stylus pen input.

HUAWEI has the WPS Office app pre-installed to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, slides, and even pdf editors that you may need for work and school.

The overall performance is buttery smooth and serves great with PC-like productivity and entertainment slate.

Battery Life

HUAWEI manages to pack an enormous 8,300 mAh capacity battery into this slim profile design tablet. It claims to deliver up to 11.5 hours of continuous video playback; when it out of juice, it can be quickly top up with the HUAWEI 66W SuperCharge (Snapdragon 888 LTE) or 40W (Snapdragon 870).

Availability

The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11 is priced from RM 2,999 and this is your last chance to place your pre-order to get HUAWEI M-Pencil, HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard, and HMS exclusive benefits total worth up to RM 1,400 on HUAWEI Official Website, HUAWEI Official Store on Shopee or HUAWEI Flagship Store on Lazada.
