Yesterday HUAWEI has unveiled their 2018’s Mate 20-series. There are total 4 models; Mate20, Mate20 Pro, the all-new Mate20 X, and the premium Mate20 RS.
All the new Mate20 get a new brain, HUAWEI HiSilicon Kirin 980 based on 7nm process and dual NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that handle A.I. effectively.
Besides that, the new Mate20 has new camera position and placement. All models get Leica triple camera stacked in square alongside with a huge LED flash. The cameras consist of a standard wide, ultra wide and telephoto. According to the company, the decision to ditch the monochrome sensor is because the new sensor now is big enough to capture more details and light, thus the monochrome is redundant.
HUAWEI Mate20 sports a new 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution of 2,244 x 1,080 and a “waterdrop” design notch that house a 24-megapixels f/2.0 selfie camera.
It packed with 4,000 mAh battery that supports HUAWEI Quick Charge via USB Type-C.
The triple camera setup is; 12-megapixels f/1.8 Wide Angle Lens, 16-megapixels f/2.2 Ultra Wide Angle Len, and an 8-megapixels f/2.4 Telephoto lens. All the cameras support AIS (HUAWEI AI Image Stabilization)
It comes with four color options; Midnight Blue, Twilight, Black and Emerald Green.
HUAWEI Mate20 Pro
The Mate20 Pro uses OLED display panel with the size of 6.39-inch with QHD+ resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 that translated to 538ppi. It has curved sided on both sides of the display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S/Note series. Mate20 Pro didn’t get “Waterdrop” design notch where the huge size notch has its purpose. It packed not only a 24-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera, it also support 3D Depth Sensing Camera, projector dot and others useful sensors.
The device packed with 4,200 mAh battery that supports HUAWEI SuperCharge up to 40W max and also HUAWEI Wireless Quick Charge at 15W max.
Camera setup on the Mate20 Pro is better comparing it to the Mate20. It has a 40-megapixel f/1.8 aperture Wide Angle Lens, 20-megapixels f/2.2 Ultra Wide Angle, and an 8-megapixels f/2.4 telephoto.
It has the same color option with the Mate20; Midnight Blue, Twilight, Black and Emerald Green.
HUAWEI Mate20 X
Mate20 X is a surprise model that announced at the event. The Mate20 X is focused on entertainment and as well as gaming by offering a huge 7.2-inch display. It uses OLED panel and sports a resolution of 2,244 x 1,080. The display has a small “Waterdrop” drop like the Mate20 that houses the 24-megapixels selfie camera.
The rear camera setup is the same with the Mate20 Pro and packed with a 5,000 mAh battery pack to cope up with the huge display size.
It comes with only two color options which are Phantom Silver and Midnight Blue.
HUAWEI Mate20 RS
The Mate20 RS PORSCHE Design is the premium series of the Mate20 Pro. It has a genuine leather back case. Same 2K 6.39-inch OLED display.
The Mate20 Pro and Mate20 RS receive in-display fingerprint scanner feature and also reverse Wireless Charging.
Meaning the device now can turn into Wireless Charger and charge other Qi-certified Wireless Charge supported devices.
