HONOR Will Be Releasing 55-inch Smart Screen with Pop-up Camera

The HONOR’s President, George Zhao dropped teaser about their new products, the Smart Screen at Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) at Guangzhou, China.

Mr. George Zhao has confirmed the new product will be officially unveiled early next month at HUAWEI Developer Conference 2019.

The new Smart Screen is a partnership with China’s Internet Search, Baidu which similar to Google. The Smart Screen will be powered by Honghu 818 chipset, developed by HUAWEI HiSilicon specifically for Smart Screen. The new chipset is capable to support HDR, SuperResolution (RS, Noise-Reduction (NR), Dynamic Contrast Improvement (DCI), Automatic Colour Management (ACM) and Motion Estimation Motion Compensation (MEMC) technologies. On top of that, the Honghu 818 also supports 8K@30fps and 4K@120fps video decoding and up to 64-megapixels image decoding.

During the event, Mr. George Zhao also mentioned a pop-up camera to be featured on the Smart Screen. It will be used for video calls, photos taking and also facial recognition for security features.

The HONOR Smart Screen already made availability for reservations over at China’s giant eCommerce platforms like Tmall, JD.com and Vmall. It comes in one display size which is 55-inch and two variant, pro and non-pro. No further details on the display technology, operating system and pricing. This definitely gives a big impact to the Smart TV brands in China like Xiaomi and LeEco.
