“I draw inspiration from anything and everything,” said Quek. “There is always more than one side to a story and it’s all about the small details. The HONOR View20’s powerful camera is able to keep up with my cinematographic visions, providing me the tools to take my passion and career to the next step.”
“The film-making life takes me everywhere. With the HONOR View20, I’m able to capture every detail with ultimate clarity in various environments and lighting conditions” said Kamarul. “Its camera capabilities go far beyond my expectations and I’m excited to be able to express my idea as it will continue to challenge me to push my boundaries in film-making.”
“Photography is now integrated in much of what we do, facilitating much of our daily interactions,” said Zhao Zhiwei, Head of HONOR Malaysia. “Through this collaboration, HONOR is glad to be able to provide the tools and support that inspire creativity, tapping into the individualism of our artistic partners with the HONOR View20.”
Some background on Quek and Kamarul; they have been making waves in local filmmaking and video directing industry with multiple festive-themed TVCs that have gone viral such as the heart-warming Malaysian Festive Raya Campaign with Petronas and entertaining Chinese New Year advertisement for Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
Quek also made headlines when his feature film, Guang bagged the Best New Director award at the 13th Chinese Youth Generation Film Forum in China, even before the film hit cinemas. Quek also gained recognition as it was announced that he is set to direct an upcoming Mandarin original series for Netflix alongside with other local directors. This makes Quek one of the first Malaysians to be collaborating with the American streaming giant.
