Google has just announced a standalone cloud service app that similar to Google+ Photo for all platform including Android, iOS and web, with unlimited storage of photos and videos.

Google Photos allows you to back up high-resolution photos & videos rather than the originals that you have unlimited storage for those files in the Google cloud. The high-resolution for photos is up-to 16 megapixels per image and anything beyond that will be compressed. Same goes to videos, it can be stored up-to 1,080p resolution and compressed before uploads.
