Gaming Phone by honor, honor Play – GPU Turbo

honor China not only announces the honor 9i, they also introduced a new device that focuses on mobile gaming and the company called it honor Play.

From the tech spec, the honor Play is not much different from their current flagship smartphone, honor 10. Powered by Kirin 970 with dedicated NPU chipset but it has this GPU Turbo support that increased GPU performance up to 60% while lower down the power consumption up to 30%.

The GPU Turbo is a software-hardware based technology and will be offered to others honor devices including honor View10, honor 10, honor 9 lite and as well as honor 7X.

Other than that it’s more or less a normal flagship smartphone from honor.



It sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ resolution with a notch on top of the display. honor Play offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Cameras are 16-megapixel front shooter, 16-megapixel plus 2-megapixels rear camera.

To keep the lights on is a 3,750 mAh battery and runs on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo that supports 4D gaming and 3D audio.

honor Play is offered at the price of RMB 1,999 (RM 1,242) and RMB 2,399 (RM 1,491) for 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB respectively. It will be available only in China at the moment. This probably the cheapest Kirin 970 powered smartphone.
