Xiaomi’s latest flagship Mi 5 which just announced in MWC 2016 last month has arrived to Malaysia’s shore. This wasn’t the official set by Mi Malaysia as this is brought in by one of the well known local importer, Direct D.
There were 3 version of Mi 5 selling in China.
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Quad 1.8GHz), 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM & 32GB Internal Storage
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Quad 2.15GHz), 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM & 64GB Internal Storage
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Quad 2.15GHz), 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM & 128GB Internal Storage
Direct D is only bring in the base model and as expected you would need to fork up extra from the actual market selling price. The base model selling in China is RMB 1,999 (approx RM 1,300) and Direct D is selling it at RM 1,799 inclusive GST.
Still this price is not too bad for a Snapdragon 820 flagship smartphone. It sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display, premium slick design of front and black glass sandwiches between metal frame. It also features a new 16 megapixels SONY’s IMX298 sensor with PDAF and has four-axis optical image stabilization. The Mi 5 will be running on the latest MiUi 7 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
NFC and USB Type C was also introduced on this device. The Mi 5 is power packed with a 3,000 mAh battery that support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
