Unboxing & Design
The unboxing presentation is very good. The bottom left box kept the documentation, in-ear wingtips and USB charging cable
There are an additional 2 sizes of silicone of ear tips and 2 Memory Foam ear tips.
The Edifier TWS6 case is made from glossy plastic, similar material that you found on Apple Airpod. The top is Edifier branding. On the back is the silver hinge and pairing button. Overall the case is bigger than other TWS but it’s very slim and pocket-friendly.
On the bottom is the USB Type C port for charging and a red LED charging indicator. TWS offered Wireless Charging and can be charged with any Qi-compatible charger including Wireless Charge Powerbank and smartphone that supports Reverse Wireless Charge.
The earbuds are much smaller and lighter compared to the Edifier TWS5. Each earbud can play up to 8 hours and can be recharged through the case thrice that give up to 32 hours with just a single charge. There are magnetic that holds the earbuds to charge but I did find design flaws, where the earbuds can be charged regardless, I put the right earbuds onto the left slot or vice versa.
It also comes with ear wingtips for better fitting if you tend to use it more for sports activity as it has an IPX5 rating, splash and sweat resistant. Each side of the earbuds supports touch-control and connect binaural connection, this means it works individually and offers a more stable and less latency. The touch-control is limited;
- Left Earbud Double Tap – Voice Assistant / Play or Pause with One Earbud Mode and Answer or Reject Call
- Right Earbud Double Tap – Play or Pause and Answer or Reject Call
You can still control the music next/previous and volume with the voice assistant (Siri/Google) but it’s good to have more control on the earbuds itself rather talking to yourself in public.
Fitting & Sound Performance
Here’s my thought of the earbuds, the fitting of the earbuds is perfect when I replace the silicon ear tip to memory foam ear tip. The earbuds already lightweight, the memory foam ear tip made it less noticeable on the ear. It’s comfortable, has the best insulation and fitting in my humble opinion.
Sound quality-wise, its superb and much higher details compared to the already good Edifier TWS5. The Edifier TWS6 shown it best in mid-tone where the vocals and instruments sounds are immense in clarity and detail. It delivers extensive soundstage with spot-on separation of music instruments and vocals. The low-frequency is just right and enough without overpowered mid and high-frequency tones with a result of natural-tonality sounding.
Generally, Balanced Armature drivers are uses on premium and expensive earphone. Balanced Armature drivers are complicated to make as it’s smaller compared to the common Dynamic Drivers. The Balanced Armature driver is much more efficient as it can generate louder sounds by using less electricity, this made perfect for hearing aids. With the advantages, it offers a better separation on high-frequency, low-frequency and sometimes midrange as well.
You will not complain much about the battery life of the Edifier TWS6. The longevity 32 hours of music playback would be more than enough to use over a week. You can just drop the earphone to any Qi-wireless charging pad and let it juice up.
It doesn’t have a battery indicator on the case that tells how many percentages left which would bothersome that who would only charge when the device’s battery is low.
