Some background, Audio-Technica was established in 1962 and had been creating audio equipment and devices for over half a century. It’s also the No. 1 headphones brand in Japan.

It’s offered in 6 cheerful colors and has a rather interesting earbuds design. The squarish charging case is compact but a little thick to be comfortable in a tight jeans pocket. This explained the model naming; SQ = Square Design and TW = True Wireless.

Audio-Technica SQ1TW Google Fast Pair

The ATH-SQ1TW features Google Fast Pair where pairing with Android devices is effortless and quick. It also works with iOS, macOS, and Windows. It supports single and dual-mode, meaning you can use any side of the earbuds independently.

If you are using it for gaming, the ATH-SQ1TW supports low-latency mode, where it reduces sound delay so you can enjoy a lag-free gaming experience, especially First Person Shooting games.

The earbuds are lightweight at only 5.2gram each and also IPX4 splash resistant, you can shrug off splashes and a bit of drizzle.

Audio-Technica SQ1TW Touch Control

I did find the earbuds have a long stalk and with right ear tips, it offers an excellent passive seal that can block most of the external noises. Audio-Technica did include Hear-Through mode which enabled us to hear the surrounding by using the built-in microphone to capture ambient sounds and feedback through the earbuds.

Coming to sound quality, the Audio-Technica SQ1TW uses 5.8mm dynamic drivers, and the audios are clear and loud. It has well-defined instrument separation, a forward upper mid-range, and treble. Hence the recessed lows which are how I like it for my everyday music.

Offers 6.5 hours of playtime on the earbuds and additional 2 rounds of charges making it a total of 19.5 hours before it needs to be fueled up.

You can get them now for RM 349 from Audio-Technica’s official stores;

The Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW is a great pair of non-ANC earphones priced at RM 349. It has an effective passive seal and produces solid sound at this price point. It would be nice if it comes with a companion app that allows us to control the equalizer.
