ASUS Malaysia has recently updated its Zenbook series laptops with the latest Intel 13th Gen processor; the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404 and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED UP3404. The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404 is also the first 14″ Zenbook to be equipped with a discreet graphics card.

Design

Crafted with aluminum alloy and the lids feature ASUS’s new monogram logo in form of simple lines.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED is available in two color schemes: Inkwell Gray and Sandstone Beige. The finish of the lid on the Sandstone Beige has a plasma ceramization coating. This coating is achieved via a plasma electrolytic oxidation (POE) process that protects against fading and wear while also providing fingerprint resistance.

The laptop meets the US military-grade MIL-STD-810H standard where it passed 12 rigorous test methods and 26 disciplinary test procedures.

On top of the 16:10 14.5″ OLED display is an IR camera that features 3DNR with the support of Windows Hello for quick login and ASUS AiSense software. The hinge also allows the display to lay flat to a full 180 degrees for sharing on-screen content with others.

Paired with two sides down-firing speakers from the grills on the tapered edges. The speaker is tuned by HARMAN KARDON with Dolby Atmos support. With the ASUS Audio Booster software and DSP chip, it can output impressively loud audio without much distortion.

Overall the laptop is lightweight at only 1.5kg and slim to slot into any backpack.

Ports & Connectivity

Nothing falls short when comes to ports and connectivity. Equipped with two USB C Thunderbolt 4 that supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort, full-sized HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a USB A 3.2 Gen 2. If you need a LAN port, it also comes with a USB C to RJ45 dongle.

It gets the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Keyboard & NumberPad 2.0

The ASUS ErgoSense keyboard is designed to offer a comfortable typing experience by incorporating long 1.4mm key travels and 0.2mm dished keycaps that conform to the shape of your fingers.

Additionally, the keyboard retains the NumberPad 2.0 feature, which transforms the trackpad into a numeric keypad.

ASUS OLED

ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED sports a 14.5-inch OLED 2,880 x 1,800 non-touchscreen display. The panel offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and outputs 600 nits peak brightness. It also offers a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and received VESA HDR TrueBlack 600 certification as well as PANTONE Validated for high color accuracy.

Performance

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED comes in three configurations; Intel Core i5-13500H paired with Intel Iris Xe graphic, with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD. Intel Core i7-13700H, Intel Iris Xe, 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. While the top of the line configuration is an Intel Core i9-13900H coupled with a dedicated GPU; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, 32GB of LPDDR5, and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Having dedicated graphics like the RTX 3050 would unlock the potential of high-graphic demanding tasks such as video editing as well as gaming.

Battery

It has a long-lasting battery life with its 70Wh battery. According to ASUS, the Zenbook 14X OLED can be used for up to 10 hours in ideal conditions.

I managed to score close to 7 hours in practical usage conditions, web browsing, video streaming, and some simple productivity tasks.
