Design

The ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is a convertible laptop that covers all the bases from office work, entertainment, and to creative work. Adopted the new ASUS monogram logo in the form of simple lines.

Available in two color options; Ponder Blue and Foggy Silver which I have for this review.

The ASUS 360° ErgoHinge allows it to be used in many ways, laptop mode, tent mode, lay flat mode, and tablet mode. ASUS Pen 2.0 stylus with support of Microsoft Pen Protocol 2.0 (MPP 2.0) is included for creative tasks as well as note-taking.

Constructed with aluminum alloy for a lightweight and rigid build that also meets the MIL-STD-810H military durability standards. It has passed 12 rigorous test methods and 26 disciplinary test procedures. The display is guarded with Corning Gorilla Glass that not only protects the display from breakage but also helps reduce scratch visibility.

Feature IR camera with 3DNR and supports Windows Hello for quick and seamless login.

There are two sides down-firing speakers that are tuned by HARMAN KARDON with the support of Dolby Atmos. It also has a dedicated DSP chip for the speaker and with the ASUS Audio Booster software, it can drive impressively loud audio with less distortion.

Ports & Connectivity

It has quite a complete port and connectivity array, covering two USB C Thunderbolt 4 that supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort, a full-sized HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio combo port, and a USB A 3.2 Gen 2. It also comes with a USB C to RJ45 dongle if your working environment required a LAN connection.

Equipped with the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2

Keyboard & NumberPad 2.0

ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED ErgoSense

Like it another Zenbook series laptop, it has a pretty comfortable and tactile keyboard with decent 1.4mm key travels and each key has 0.2mm dished keycaps that conform to the shape of our fingers. This offers a more accurate typing experience and replicates the comfort of using a desktop PC keyboard.

With the limited space for numeric keys, ASUS included NumberPad 2.0 which turned the touchpad into a numeric keypad for you to punch numbers.

ASUS OLED

Sports a 16:10 14-inch 2,880 x 1,800 resolution OLED touch display. The panel boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and outputs 550 nits peak brightness. Provides a 100% DCI-P3 color space and received VESA HDR TrueBlack 500 certification as well as PANTONE Validated.

One of the advantages of having ASUS OLED is the low emission of blue light compared to conventional LCD panels. Do check out my FastView video above to see how I use the Bandpass filter to see how long blue light emits on the OLED panel compared to conventional LCD.

Performance

ASUS Malaysia offers only one configuration; Intel Core i5-1340P processor coupled with Intel Iris Xe (80EU), 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD. The Intel P-series processor focuses on balanced performance and power efficiency. Hence, you will enjoy a greater battery life while enjoying adequate performance for everyday office and simple creative tasks. For graphical demanding tasks, you may need to look elsewhere, especially the Intel Iris Xe has a much lower clock speed (1,450MHz) and only 80 execution units.

If you are looking for a similar size laptop that required more CPU and GPU needs, you should check out the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404 which I recently reviewed.

Here are some synthetic performance test results

Battery Life

ASUS has bumped up its battery capacity from 63Wh to 75Wh which now offers up to 15 hours of all-day battery. I found I could get through a whole working day without tethering to the wall. That’s easily 8 hours of productivity (Browser, Mail, Streaming, and Documents) and leaves me with 20% or more by end of the day.

I noticed that the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED only takes 65W which I was expecting more, at least 90W?
