ASUS ROG Phone 3 Launched – Huge Upgrade with Toned-down Design

ASUS Republic of Gamer announced ROG Phone 3-series, the third sequence of its gaming smartphones. Yes, ROG Phone 3-series where it comes in two variants; ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition.

The ROG Phone 3 is the most powerful gaming smartphones up to date by using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G mobile processor. The clock speed bumped the “Prime Core” from 2.84GHz to 3.1GHz that delivered up to 10% performance more compared to the standard Snapdragon 865.

With the up to 16GB latest LPDDR5 RAM and speedy 512GB UFS 3.1 storage technology, it will deliver the ultimate in overall performance and super-smooth gaming experience.

The design has toned down but having the same footprint. This allows backwards compatible with the previous ROG Phone 2’s accessories. Keeping the lights on is 6,000 mAh battery with supports of 30W fast charging.

The display has improved with an upgraded 144Hz refresh rate 6.59-inch AMOLED display. It provides Delta-E colour accuracy, 10-bits display with supports of HDR10+ high-dynamic range.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 supports Air Trigger 3 system now includes a motion sensor in addition to the programmable ultrasonic touch sensors.

Camera wise, triple rear camera; 64-megapixels main camera, 13-megapixels ultra-wide-angle, 5-megapixels macro and a 24-megapixels front camera.

So what’s about ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition? It’s a lower variant ROG Phone 3 by using the standard Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition are expected to be available from September 2020 in Malaysia.

  • ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition (8GB of RAM + 256GB Storage) – €799 (~MYR 3,946)
  • ASUS ROG Phone 3 (12GB of RAM + 512GB Storage) – €999 (~MYR 4,934)
  • ASUS ROG Phone 3 (16GB of RAM + 512GB Storage) – €1,099 (~MYR 5,427)

Based on past record, the pricing for Malaysia market would normally much lower and it could be priced similar to the previous gen of ROG Phone. We might be seeing price tag from RM 2,499 for the Strix Edition and up to RM 4,499 for the top-of-the line.
