ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Malaysia has unveiled the pricing and pre-order promotion for the ROG Ally X, the latest model of its popular handheld gaming console. Designed for Windows 11 gaming on the go, the ROG Ally X retains the powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and introduces upgrades in storage, RAM, battery life, and chassis design for better ergonomics, cooling, and connectivity. With Armoury Crate SE 1.5, offering a customizable game library and unified system updates, the ROG Ally X aims to enhance the gaming experience under the motto #playALLYourgames.
Enhanced Storage, RAM, and Battery Life
The ROG Ally X features significant internal upgrades based on user feedback. The new 1 TB SSD, an upgrade from the original 512 GB, provides ample space for games. The redesigned motherboard with an M.2 2280 form factor slot allows easier storage upgrades. It also includes 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM, enhancing flexibility by allowing more memory allocation to both the system and GPU, crucial for high-resolution, lifelike gaming experiences. An 80 Wh battery, double the capacity of the previous model, extends gaming sessions away from power sources. Despite this upgrade, the ROG Ally X remains lightweight at 678 grams, with a perfectly balanced weight distribution for comfort during play.
Improved Controls and Connectivity
The ROG Ally X showcases a new black chassis with deeper handles and a more rounded shape for enhanced comfort. The buttons and sticks are ergonomically angled, with slanted triggers for easier pressing. The smaller macro buttons reduce accidental presses while maintaining accessibility. Durable joysticks with stiffer springs offer a familiar response, and the improved D-Pad provides precise eight-direction input for various game genres. The original XG Mobile port is replaced with two USB-C ports, one Thunderbolt-compatible, allowing better connectivity with third-party docks and external GPUs.
Superior Thermal Management
To house the new battery, the ROG Ally X uses smaller fans with thinner blades, improving airflow. New fan tunnels direct air towards an additional exhaust vent, increasing air volume by 24% for efficient cooling. This keeps both internal components and the touch screen cooler by up to 6°C, ensuring comfortable long-term use.
Availability and Pricing
