Samsung Unpacked 2024 has just announced the latest in their foldable and wearable lineup, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and the Galaxy Buds3 series.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6
The Galaxy Z Fold6 has seen some significant improvements. Now lighter and thinner, it weighs in at just 239g, which is only 7g heavier than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The device features a larger 6.3″ outer screen while retaining the 7.6″ main display. The main display also boasts a max peak brightness of 2,600 nits.
The Z Fold6 is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an improved Armor Aluminium frame. It utilizes a new dual rail hinge and folding edge, giving it a more squarish feel. This design change makes it more comfortable to hold and easier to unfold. The camera setup remains unchanged with a 50MP primary, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto, a 4MP under-screen camera, and a 10MP selfie camera on the outer screen. It houses a 4,400 mAh battery that supports 25W Samsung Fast Charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6
The Z Flip6 also adopts the new dual rail hinge and folding edge, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the secondary screen and back cover. The device color now extends to the frame, including the camera rings, providing a more cohesive look. The primary camera has been upgraded from 12MP to 50MP, while the 12MP ultrawide camera remains unchanged.
The Z Flip6 maintains the same 6.7″ folding screen and 3.4″ Super AMOLED FlexWindow. The battery capacity has been increased from 3,700mAh to 4,000mAh while keeping the same weight as its predecessor.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, with 12GB of RAM across all models, including the base Z Flip6 with 128GB storage. Samsung has also increased the vapor chamber size by up to 160% for better cooling, resulting in enhanced performance. These are the first foldable to receive IP48 ingress protection, making them officially dust and water-resistant.
The Z Fold6 is available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, while the Z Flip6 comes in Blue, Yellow, Mint, and Silver Shadow, with additional Samsung Online-exclusive colors.
Galaxy AI Enhancements
Samsung’s Galaxy AI introduces several new features, such as Interpreter Mode, which allows users to display translated language on the FlexWindow or outer screen without passing the device around. AI photography enhancements include Portrait Studio, which transforms portraits into cartoon characters, and Sketch to Image, which generates AI images from sketches or text. The improved Chat Assist offers multiple context-sensitive reply suggestions.
Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra
The Galaxy Watch7, available in 40mm and 44mm, includes features from the Galaxy Watch6 along with new combined exercise modes, double pinch gestures, and more advanced replies powered by Galaxy AI.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra stands out with a unique square case and a 47mm circular display protected by sapphire glass. It features a Titanium Grade 4 case, meets the US military standard 810H, and includes dual GPS frequency and a max peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The battery life is impressive, offering up to 100 hours.
Galaxy Buds3 Series
The Galaxy Buds3 series marks the first Galaxy Buds with stems. The vanilla model features an open-ear design, while the Buds7 Pro has an in-ear design with glowing white lighting on the stems. Samsung introduced a new SSC HQ sound codec, which doubles the sampling frequency to 96kHz and responds up to 40kHz. Galaxy AI is also integrated into the earphones for enhanced functionality.
